Miki's brother, Marty, after a successful joistful afternoon. |
Progress is being had on
many fronts here at the Heyne/Winholtz home. First, with the help of Miki’s brother, fresh from
Charleston, South Carolina, the joists are now in place atop the beams, atop
the posts, atop the holes, atop the Earth.
Without jinxing it (knock on
wood!), Miki has had some really good days lately. Her energy and appetite have been as good as they have been
since the beginning back in June.
Turning a corner?
Transfusion honeymoon period?
Sick and tired of being sick and tired? Who knows, but I like it, I love it, I want some more of it!
Along with Miki’s brother
Marty, his wife Kathleen, and her parents arrived and prepared an exquisite
evening meal, including pie and ice cream for desert. I wish I had photos to share. It was very taste bud tantalizingly delicious!
Miki was very excited to see
her baby brother and having a portion of her family together became emotional
as the meal got underway. She
teared up for the love of family and I followed her lead by tearing up for the
love of an excellent home cooked meal.
She will get to see her
family together a little while longer before they each head back to where they
call home, but until then she gets to feel her family near her and store it up
for the next time things aren’t going as well as they are right now.

My Zen from Home: I just got done watching my dog Tuck,
settle down on the floor in front of me.
He circled in place 8 times, with his head down towards the floor, as if
inspecting each inch of the rug he was about to bless with his presence. He almost went down on round 6, but
caught himself for only a reason a dog would understand. He did paw at one spot that was not
quite right as if to fluff it up, but when it was right he knew it and down he
went. You could almost see him
smile. When it’s right, it’s
right. If you are lucky and/or
paying attention to the little voice in your head that announces it, the right
thing to do or say or act upon is right there. The tree house feels right, the weather these days is
feeling right, and Miki is getting righter all the time!
Bonus Field Trip Pics...

We took a field trip out to Powell Gardens where our old neighbors were part of an antique tractor show. Here, Miki is accompanied by a man with a rather large face. |
