What a Nice Surprise!

Santa, the Easter Rabbit, and the Tooth Fairy all paid a surprise visit to me this morning.  I have been waking up about 5 or so for some reason the last few days and after laying around for a bit, I thought I was hearing Santa’s reindeer on the roof.  I was hearing sounds of their hooves clicking on the cold hard shingles and something like Santa’s sleigh sliding back and forth.  As it turned out, it was Miki and her walker.  As the sounds got closer, I could distinguish them as sliiide–thud…sliiide-thud…sliiide-thud as she walked through the kitchen and up the stairs.  As she made her way into our bedroom, instead of going to her side of the bed, she crashed my side.  I thought it was because she knew it would be warmer than the other side, but she was surprising me with a rare opportunity for a morning snuggle.  She worked her little body next to mine and even though she has lost a fair amount of weight in this process, we still fit nicely together.  Her heart was racing like the Easter Rabbit’s after hiding eggs all night long, with all the effort she put forth into her early morning adventure to surprise me.  It was wonderful to snuggle, it has been along time.  As we settled in, I found her hand under her pillow, which I held for a while.  Even though I haven’t lost a tooth in a long time, I figured the tooth fairy must have owed me big from my childhood for sending me her hand to hold.  It must have taken great coordination for Santa, a rabbit, and a fairy to sync their schedules just for us.  We took advantage of it for 55 minutes and 32 seconds, until Tooga announced it was time for breakfast!

Timeout:  Is it me or as those of you with dogs can relate, dog farts just pierce through everything to get to your sense of smell and then just kick it around?  Nothing compares to it, not human farts, not decay or rot, not even over worn socks.  But one of these bad boys just sent a silent but deadly one loose….oh wait, I just heard Tuck cut one.  He must be the culprit.    They usually scare themselves and jump up when it actually makes a noise and run out of the room, like they are disgusted with you.  Sorry, but it may even permeate into this posting.  If this blog seems to have abruptly ended, I've been asphyxiated.  If you get real close to your computer screen and sniff, you may even get a whiff…if so, my apologies.

Time in:  The tree house started getting its siding and soon I will be able to put up one of those signs like the department of transportation does on work sites when they are done…”Completed as Promised.”  Except this one will be placed over a sign that says, “Miki’s Dream.”  And when done, it will be overlaid with “Completed as Hoped!”
Nothing against Tyvek, but the siding works
better for me.
We continue to hurry up and wait, as MD Anderson presents Miki’s medical records through their filter process to find us just the right doctor for her needs.  We are preparing to say, “How high?” as soon as they say, “Jump!”

My Zen from Home:  Miki continues to get cards in the mail most everyday that goes by.  It is hard to find one that doesn’t bring tears to her eyes from the joy she pulls from every word.  A friend of ours gave Miki a basket that we have placed the cards in and it has been overflowing for some time now.  When we take the time to put in writing the support we want others to feel, that is some strong stuff.  The power of the written word…it keeps her reaching for the brass ring.

Bonus Pic...
She's okay, it is just one of the contortions
that brings her comfort.
