Colorado - Sept. 2011 - Real Life on the Road

We awoke to a good friend's birthday and low clouds today...but still where we want to be.  Karen, one of my middle school teammates, celebrates another orbit around the sun today and we wish her the best.
This is as awake as I have ever been at 8:00 a.m.
You can tell in the background that the dreariness has carried over from yesterday and the dripping water evidently carried over into our plumbing of the trailer.  Two trips to the RV dealer ago we brought them a slow leak and it was addressed.  We left town and discovered "addressed" doesn't necessarily mean repaired.  Once again we delivered the doghouse for the leak to be addressed at the dealer.  I was told this time that the leak was not coming from the fitting inside but leaking through from where the hose hooks up to the outside... yada... yada...yada.  It got better.  Implications were made that I had put a cheap, plastic "y" connector on to the hose, which was where they said the leak was starting and should get a better metal one (I did)...after I told them that they put the plastic "y" on when we picked the trailer up... oops.  Oh well, benefit of the doubt to them.  Guess what...
A picture is worth a thousand swear words!
To this point I had wanted to put the onus on them...warranty and all.  Well, screw that.  Today when I checked it out, cause I trust no one, I shut the water off, unscrewed the fitting, applied some teflon tape to the threads, and put it back on...problem solved.  Do I get the shop labor rate of $90 an hour?  I may come out of retirement and open my own RV plumbing repair shop.

In between rain drops we got out with the dogs and walked.  It is fun to se them in new surroundings.  Their smell-o-meter is off the charts right now.  Between smelling every rock big enough to pee on and identifying chipmunks as a source of protein, they are pretty fun to watch.
Lake Dillon in the background.  This bike trail goes
around the whole lake and if the precip gives us a
break, we'll experience it all...more than once!
And at home, when the rain keeps going, we go shopping...ran some errands may be more appropriate.  Now that we are having some temperature extremes from day to night (albeit minor extremes), we decided to get an indoor/outdoor thermometer to warn us if jackets are warranted...heaven forbid if we open the door and stick Miki's head out for a weather report.  But all the other RVer's have them.  And we also needed a clock to hang over the closet door, so we can see the time without getting our big asses out of our recliners and look at the microwave.  I think you may well be getting a picture of us that is not very attractive at this point, but that is life on the road.
This time is actually marking an important moment...
...the sky began to clear and the rain ceased!
So, that is a day in the life of us on the road.  It is like being at home...still looking out after maintenance issues, picking up things you need at the store, walking the dogs, and hoping for a pretty sunset at the end of the day (oh, we also saw a movie..."The Help").  The only thing that is different from home is the background.

My Zen from the road:  Who knows what tomorrow will bring, probably something similar to what we would do at home, just like today.  Which goes to show you that home is wherever you are.  The only thing we are missing is YOU!
